Albany Residential College is located high on Mount Clarence adjacent to the Albany Senior High School. Its boarders enjoy magnificent views of Albany and the immediate hinterland.
Albany is situated approximately 406 kms south of Perth with a population of 32,000. It is the site of the first settlement in Western Australia and is now a major tourist destination. Albany is also well known as the last departure point for the ANZAC’s on their way to Gallipoli. Albany’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service, which commenced in 1930, has been given icon status by the State Government.
As a major regional centre, Albany offers all services in education, health and business in addition to its wholesale and retail trade outlets. Students at the residential college have access to recreational facilities for many sports including football, cricket, basketball, hockey and netball, together with use of the indoor Leisure and Aquatic Centre and Albany’s beaches for swimming, fishing and surfing. Students also involve themselves in local community activities such as the Red Shield Appeal and raising money for medical research projects.
Albany Residential College provides co-educational accommodation and supervision for country students attending the following schools:
All these schools offer high quality education and a wide diversification of subjects in order to prepare students for entry into university and other tertiary and training institutions, as well as the workforce. Tertiary campuses in Albany include those run by Curtin University, the University of Western Australia and the Great Southern College of TAFE.
