Broome is a major regional centre approximately 2400 kilometres north of Perth. Often called the gateway to the Kimberley, Broome was founded as a pearling port over a century ago. It is the location of the world famous Cable Beach, twenty two kilometres of pristine white sand.
The Broome Residential College opened in 2008 with room for up to 72 students. The college provides a highly valued boarding service for the Kimberley region. The buildings are designed to blend with the natural environment, provide a state of the art facility, and maintain environmental sustainability. The design and establishment of the college involved consultation with the Broome community and traditional land owners, and was a joint venture between the Western Australian Department of Education, the Catholic Education Office, and the Country High School Hostels Authority. Dedicated staff support students in their personal development and education in a safe and caring environment.
The College caters to students attending both Broome Senior High School and St Mary’s College. Both schools offer a quality education in a unique learning environment to equip students with life long learning skills, perseverance and integrity.
