Northam is situated 96 kms east of Perth in the picturesque Avon Valley. First gazetted in 1836, it is the regional centre of the Avon Valley and central wheatbelt. The region primarily produces wheat, barley, oats, sheep, wool and cattle. Northam is on the major road and rail link to Kalgoorlie and eastern Australia.
Northam Residential College provides well equipped facilities with modern air-conditioned and spacious single room accommodation for up to 47 students. Students are fully supervised and have the opportunity for extra tuition. College facilities include student lounge and common rooms, swimming pool, pool and table tennis tables, study and game computers, and access to tennis, basketball, netball, hockey and football facilities. Two fenced horse paddocks at the rear of the property can be utilised for student equine requirements.
The college works in partnership with Northam Senior High School and St Joseph’s Catholic School, which offer a full range of courses aimed at university entrance as well as courses catering for students who are vocationally oriented. Northam’s fine secondary schools and residential college offer students a unique opportunity to gain an excellent education in an Australian rural setting.
