Since her first illustrated book for children, The Tram to Bondi Beach, written by Libby Hathorn was Highly Commended in the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Picture Book of the Year Award of 1981, almost every title Julie Vivas has produced has won acclaim from adults and children.
She is not afraid to tackle controversial subjects for children as is shown in the down-to-earth holy family and the Angel Gabriel in work boots in The Nativity, and Hello Baby showing the birth of said baby.
