Popular author and illustrator,
Bruce Whatley was born in the United Kingdom, immigrated
to Australia as a child with his parents, moved
back to the UK for a while to study and work, worked
for a time in the US and now lives in NSW with his
wife Rosie Smith, who has co-authored several of
his titles.
Bruce is inspired by his family, with his Boxer
dog featuring in several of his picture books. He
uses a variety of illustration medium including
gouache, pen and ink, and watercolour. His style
is humorous and imaginative; his aim is to entertain
and surprise the reader. |

Award-winning author, Margaret
Wild was born in South Africa in 1948 and moved
to Australia in 1973. She has been a journalist
and now works as an editor and writer in Sydney.
She has written many memorable picture books which
have been illustrated by a diversity of Australia's
best illustrators. Two verse novels for young adults have been favourably reviewed.
Her books are usually multi-layered, often poignant,
humorous, and the language is always enriching and
full of meaning. |
